Episode 1:1

Welcome all to my first newsletter!!! My aim is to keep you up to date on what is going on in the studio and shop of Lazy Spinster. This newsletter will be once a month, or until I feel comfortable making it more regular.

Who Am I?

This is a question I am constantly thinking about. Who is the Lazy Spinster. Hi everyone, my name is Amanda. I live in southern New Hampshire with my husband and five (yes that’s 5) daughters. We have a small homestead that I love tending. This is where I raise my Angora rabbits for the luxurious fiber that I handspin into luxurious yarn. I am also the proud owner of Lazy Spinster Studio LLC.

I focus a lot on Angora fiber and hand-spun yarn. But, I also love just creating with whatever yarn I can get my hands on. I raise my own Angora rabbits and harvest their fiber when they are shedding for my beautiful products.

For fun I like to take photos. I also enjoy reading, I even joined a book club this year to make me read more. I also enjoyed spending time with my family and taking walks.

What is New?

Halloween is around the corner. So, why not have some spooky boo ghosts available. These guys come in two colors, white and smoke gray. They are about 2.5 ” tall and would make a great addition for any Halloween decor you may have or perfect for a child to add to their collection. Find my listing here for Etsy or here for my site.

Life Outside Lazy Spinster

Shows: I am loving the last season of SEAL Team. Gotta love a good David Boreanaz show! I am sad that this is the last season, but I agree that it’s time.

Books: I just started Coraline by Neil Gaiman. This is the last book my book club is reading for the month of October. So far, not too bad. I’ve never seen the movie. My middle daughter informed me it was very different than the movie. This is something I will have to check out after I am done with the book.

Yarn: I am currently working with Joann’s Big Twist Boho Superfine blend. I actually love this yarn. It does tangle when frogging, but that’s to be expected with mohair. It’s soft and just super nice to work with.

Pattern: I am taking a quick break from the normal hats, pumpkins, and ghosts this week. I have a craft fair Saturday and I have all I need for this small craft fair. So I am working on a lovey by Mama Made Minis. This is a bear mini. Now the pattern calls for a super bulky yarn. I am working with superfine that I doubled to make it into a dk weight yarn. They are small, but I think they will be perfect for stocking stuffers for Christmas.

Working on: I am also working on a Piggy Pillow by Moogly for my middle daughter for her birthday at the end of the month. This was the one thing my girl asked me for, for her birthday. So who am I to say no.

Audiobook: I like to listen to audiobooks while I do house chores and clean our church. The book I am currently reading is Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey. She is one of my favorite authors, and it is my goal to listen to the whole Valdemar series I am currently two series in. The Gryphon Series is one of my favorites and highly recommend. The last book of the founding of Valdemar just came out

Listening to: Okay, I don’t know how long this category will last, but I need to shout out to Linkin Park for coming back together and making more music. I have been a Linkin Park fan since One Step Closer came out in 2000. I was a junior in high school and fell in love. These guys have a special place in my heart and the fact that they are back makes me sooo happy. For those who aren’t happy with Emily, well, give her a shot. She’s great and I believe Chester would be happy the band is continuing the music he loved to make and perform. From Zero comes out in November and this super fan is sooo ready for some new Linkin Park, to sing in my car as loud as I can.

Till Next Time…

I hope you guys have a great Halloween. I will be back in November with some more listings and tidbits for you. I will also have more actual Angora goods available for you. Have a great month!
