Hello everyone, my name is Amanda Fontaine. I am from New Hampshire, born and raised. I have moved to other places in the country, but New Hampshire is where my heart is and now my family. I am a stay at home/homeschooling mother of five girls. I raise angora rabbits for their fiber which I spin into yarn. I have been spinning for about 5 years, knitting for about 3 years, and my mother taught me to crochet when I was I think 8, but I didn’t really start to pick it up until I was 28.
Spinning has really become a love in my life. I love the fact that in my crazy day of raising and schooling five girls while caring for our house and rabbits, it makes me have to slow down and breath. Knitting came from my spinning believe it or not. I have tried knitting so many times and the fact that it involves two needles just boggled my mind. But I had a woman who wanted to buy some yarn from me but I couldn’t tell her how it knit up. I know how it crochets, but not knit. So I made it my mission to learn. I have come to love knitting.
I enjoy making things for children, whether it be a stuffed toy, hats, mittens, but I especially love making baby blankets. I believe that every baby should have a baby blanket and a stuffed toy. I know my girls have blankets that they love, even the oldest one whose 12 right now still sleeps with her baby blanket my mom crocheted for her when she was born, and they LOVE stuffed toys. There’s just something to me about putting love into a stuffed toy and blanket that makes them priceless.
