This past year I jumped on the Temperature Blanket trend. I’ve tried them in the past and honestly I didn’t enjoy them. I saw in Instagram a woman who made one with these moss stitch squares. I was in love. So in December of ’22 I ordered 8 skeins of yarn. They recommend like 10, but I did 8. We don’t get many days above 100* or below 20* up here in New Hampshire, so I kept my temperatures between 20-90*.

I ordered Brava yarn from Knit Picks and it didn’t disappoint. It’s super soft and great to work with. And it’s machine washable and dry-able. My choice for the border was just which color did I have left over to make the border and when I ran out of the 30* temp color I ordered their x-large skein of the blue, so I have a ton left over.

For this year I once again wanted to do a temperature blanket, but I wanted to change it up a bit, so I am doing a straight across row blanket. I know for 2024 mood blankets are in, but honestly, as a mom of 5 girls, who has pretty bad anxiety, my moods can change minute by minute so it’s hard to keep track of what my mood is for the day.

I do have a word of caution; DO NOT BUY LIMITED ADDITION YARN! I ordered some beautiful alpaca yarn from Knit Picks only to find out that when they are out of this specific yarn, that’s it. I was devastated. It took me a long time to find these colors and the perfect yarn which I absolutely fell in love with. So, I was back to the drawing board at the beginning of this year. You will just have to stay tuned to see what happened and what yarn I ended up choosing and the beautiful pattern I am working with.
